Can guinea pigs eat plums?
PDSA and the Royal Veterinary College list plums among fruits guinea pigs can eat. Fruit is high in sugar (PDSA), so only once or twice a week (Royal Veterinary College).
How to serve it: pit removed, a small piece
Good to know: Prune plums count as plums too. Woodgreen lists fruit seeds and pips among things to avoid. Merck’s chapter for vets advises against sugary fruit altogether – hence only rarely and a little.
Questions
Can guinea pigs eat plums every day?
No, only now and then and in small amounts.
Can rabbits eat plums?
Yes, but only a little. PDSA says plums are safe for rabbits in small amounts, but fruit is high in sugar and shouldn’t be fed daily. Remove the pit first (House Rabbit Society).
