Questions
How much should I feed my dog per day?
It depends on weight, activity, spay/neuter status and above all the calories in the food. A neutered 22 lb (10 kg) dog needs about 630 kcal per day. With kibble at 375 kcal per cup, that’s about 1.7 cups.
Where do I find the calories of my food?
US labels list them as “Calorie Content”, in kcal/kg and kcal/cup. If you only have the guaranteed analysis, we calculate the calories from crude protein, fat, fiber, ash and moisture using the National Research Council (2006) equations.
Why is the result different from the bag?
Feeding guides on bags use averages for all dogs. We calculate for your dog. Both are starting points: weigh your dog every two weeks and adjust.
Does it work for puppies?
No. Puppies under 18 months are still growing and need different amounts. Ask your vet.
