Questions
How much wet food should a cat eat per day?
A spayed 9 lb (4 kg) cat needs about 240 kcal per day. With wet food at 900 kcal/kg, that’s about 265 g; with dry food at 3,800 kcal/kg about 63 g.
I feed wet and dry food. How do I calculate?
Work out the daily calories and split them, for example half wet and half dry. Then feed half the amount of each food. The wet and dry food calculator does it for you.
Why two decimals for weight?
For cats, a few ounces matter. Weigh yourself holding your cat and subtract your own weight, or use a baby scale.
Does it work for kittens?
No. Kittens under 12 months are still growing and need different amounts. Ask your vet.
