Questions
How much wet and dry food should a dog eat per day?
A spayed or neutered 22-lb dog needs about 629 kcal a day. With a quarter wet food, that’s about 5.5 oz of wet food with 1,000 kcal/kg and about 1¼ cups of dry food with 380 kcal/cup.
Why does the calculator split calories, not weight?
Dry food has about four times as many calories per ounce as wet food. If you just halve the weight, you can easily feed too much or too little.
What split is right?
No source sets a fixed ratio. Choose what suits your dog, and check with the scale that the amount is right.
