Questions

How do you convert cat years to human years?

First year 15, the second adds 9 (24), then 4 per year. Kittens have their own values: at 3 months a cat is about 4 in human years, at 6 months about 10.

Does “times 7” work for cats?

No. At one year a cat is almost grown up, so about 15. After that it ages more slowly: a 10-year-old cat is about 56, not 70.

When is a cat a senior?

According to International Cat Care, at 11 years. From 15, a cat counts as a super senior.

Does an older cat need less food?

There’s no fixed senior amount. Weigh your cat regularly and adjust the amount. If your cat loses weight for no clear reason, talk to your vet.
