Can rabbits eat kale?
The Merck Veterinary Manual lists kale among foods rabbits should only get in limited amounts. The University of Florida also advises small amounts, while PDSA and the House Rabbit Society list it without limits.
How to serve it: rotated with other greens, introduced gradually (RWAF, TVT)
Good to know: RWAF says brassicas like kale can cause gas in some rabbits when fed in large amounts. We err on the side of caution.
Questions
Can rabbits eat kale every day?
No, only now and then and in small amounts.
Can guinea pigs eat kale?
Yes, but only a little. Kale is high in calcium, so Merck says not to give it often: excess calcium may contribute to bladder stones. The RSPCA lists it as a treat for a few times a week, and Blue Cross advises moderation.
