Can dogs eat dates?

AKC says dates aren’t toxic but aren’t an everyday treat: half a date to two, once or twice a week, by size. The pit can chip teeth, cause choking or block the gut (AKC).

How to serve it: pitted, in small pieces; fresh or dried

Good to know: Don’t mix them up with raisins: those are dried grapes and toxic to dogs (AKC). Dried dates have more sugar and calories than fresh ones (AKC).
