Why only a time window?

Guinea pigs are pregnant for 59 to 72 days (Merck, PDSA, RSPCA Australia). The sources disagree on the average: VCA says 63 days, Merck 68. With many pups, pregnancy is shorter (RSPCA Australia).

When to call your vet

  • Still pregnant on day 70: see your vet right away, or the whole litter may be stillborn (VCA).
  • Normally a pup arrives every 3 to 7 minutes and it’s all over in about 30 minutes. Straining without a pup, seeming dull, or bloody or greenish-brown discharge: see your vet right away (University of Missouri).
  • Eating less during pregnancy: see your vet right away (VCA).
  • Older than about six to eight months at her first litter: plan the birth with your vet beforehand – it can be difficult (VCA, University of Missouri).

The short answer

Guinea pigs are pregnant for 59 to 72 days (Merck, RSPCA Australia). On average it’s 63 days according to VCA, 68 according to Merck. If she’s still pregnant on day 70, she needs to see a vet right away (VCA). Example: mating on March 1, 2027 – the pups are most likely due between May 3 and May 8, possibly from April 29 to May 12.
