Can dogs eat mushrooms?
AKC says plain store-bought mushrooms are generally safe, yet still advises giving your dog a different treat. Wild mushrooms can be deadly, and Merck notes dogs are especially at risk because they eat indiscriminately.
Good to know: If your dog ate a wild mushroom, call your vet right away (AKC); some mushroom toxins take hours to cause signs (Pet Poison Helpline). Mushroom dishes often contain butter, onion or garlic (AKC).
