Can dogs eat peas?
AKC says fresh or frozen peas are fine on occasion, but not canned peas with added sodium. PDSA and RSPCA also list plain peas as suitable for dogs.
How to serve it: fresh or frozen, no salt or butter, no tough pods
Good to know: FDA has looked into whether dog foods with peas or lentils among the main ingredients are linked to a heart muscle disease (DCM); a causal link has not been established (FDA, December 2022 update).
