Can guinea pigs eat pumpkin?
Woodgreen lists pumpkin among vegetables, but PDSA puts squash with fruit, to be given only in very small amounts. We err on the side of caution: just a small piece now and then.
How to serve it: seeds removed, a small piece
Good to know: Pumpkin seeds don’t belong in the bowl: seeds are too high in fat (Royal Veterinary College, VCA).
Questions
Can guinea pigs eat pumpkin every day?
No, only now and then and in small amounts.
Can rabbits eat pumpkin?
Yes, but only a little. RWAF lists pumpkin as suitable: lower in sugar than fruit, but only a smaller part of the fresh food. PDSA lists squash among treats in very small amounts, so we err on the side of caution.
