Can cockatiels eat eggs?
Yes, but only cooked and a little: cockatiels can eat eggs. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) lists cooked egg as a protein food for cockatiels. They need it usually once a week in small amounts, the STS says. During breeding, chick rearing and molting, cockatiels need animal and plant protein every day, the STS says. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT), however, says animal protein can be added only during molting and chick rearing, and only in small amounts.
How to serve it: hard-boiled, no salt, a tiny piece
Good to know: The Merck Veterinary Manual lists egg yolk among vitamin A–rich foods you can offer birds in smaller amounts. We found no bird source on eggshells.
