Can dogs eat ham?
Ham is heavily salted and higher in fat than many other meats. Too much salt can be toxic to dogs, and too much fat can lead to pancreatitis (AKC). AKC still considers a small piece once in a while OK.
Good to know: Dry-cured ham such as prosciutto is never cooked, and raw meat can carry Salmonella and E. coli (ASPCA). Aujeszky’s disease virus stays infectious in cured meat for up to 20 days; in Germany wild boar carry it, so skip wild boar ham (FLI).

Questions
Can cats eat ham?
Better not. Ham is heavily salted, cooked ham included – and too much salt is harmful to cats (Pet Poison Helpline). RSPCA advises against processed meats for pets because they’re extremely high in salt. Fatty edges can predispose cats to pancreatitis (Cornell, FDA).
