Can dogs eat ice cream?
AKC says it’s best not to give dogs ice cream, since it contains lactose, lots of sugar and often lots of fat. Many adult dogs don’t digest lactose well, and high-fat dairy can cause pancreatitis (AKC).
Good to know: Chocolate ice cream is toxic, and “sugar-free” or “skinny” ice cream may contain xylitol, which is extremely toxic to dogs (AKC, FDA). For a cool treat, AKC suggests frozen plain yogurt or frozen blended banana.

Questions
Can cats eat ice cream?
Better not. Ice cream is a dairy product high in fat and sugar – not for cats. Many cats are lactose-intolerant (Cornell), cream and dairy add pounds (PDSA), and sugar is unhealthy for cats (Cats Protection).
