How much to feed a Labradoodle
A Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. Size and weight vary a lot: the Australian Labradoodle standard gives 15–65 lb, and in UK vet practices Labradoodles had a median weight of about 54 lb. Here’s how much food that is per day – for the most accurate amount, use your own dog’s weight.

There’s no standard for the Labradoodle itself. The 15 to 65 pound range comes from the Australian Labradoodle standard (ALAA), a line bred from Labrador, Poodle and Cocker Spaniel; the ALAA sorts three sizes by height at the shoulder only: Miniature 14 to 16 inches, Medium 17 to 20 inches, Standard 21 to 24 inches. The medians come from UK vet practices (VetCompass, 2019 data).

How much does your dog weigh?
Decimals help, e.g. 22.5. No pet scale? Weigh yourself, then again holding your pet.
A starting point – the scale has the final say. If your dog is ill, talk to your vet.
Labradoodle puppies
As an example we use an adult weight of 54 lb – how big your puppy gets depends on its parents. At 4 months, a puppy then weighs about 28.7 lb on the growth curve in the FEDIAF guidelines and needs about 3¼ cups of dry food with 380 kcal/cup a day. For your puppy, calculate with its own age and weight.
Questions
How much should a Labradoodle eat per day?
A Labradoodle weighing 54 lb, spayed or neutered with normal activity, needs about 1,233 kcal a day. That’s about 3¼ cups of dry food or 41.1 oz of wet food with the calories from the chart. Use the calculator above for your food.
How much does a Labradoodle weigh?
It depends a lot on the parents. In UK vet practices, adult Labradoodles had a median weight of about 54 lb (females 51 lb, males 58 lb; VetCompass, 2019 data). The Australian Labradoodle standard (ALAA), a line bred from Labrador, Poodle and Cocker Spaniel, gives 15 to 65 pounds.
My dog weighs more than this. Is that too much?
Not necessarily. Crossbreeds vary a lot in weight, depending on their parents. Your dog’s shape tells you more than the number: you should feel the ribs and see a waist from above. If in doubt, ask your vet.
