Can cockatiels eat rice?

Only a little, cooked

Yes, but only cooked and a little: cockatiels can eat rice. Purdue includes cooked rice, preferably brown rice, in a diet recipe for pet birds. It says grains, seeds, bread and pasta together should make up no more than half the diet.

How to serve it: cooked and cooled, plain, a small amount

Good to know: We found no bird source on uncooked rice, and the cockatiel care sheets don’t mention rice.
