Can chinchillas eat apple sticks?
Yes, chinchillas can eat and gnaw on dried apple sticks. PDSA says untreated apple or pear branches are ideal for gnawing. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) names apple, pear, hazel, blueberry and currant wood, and Merck lists apple, pear, birch, ash, elm, maple and hazel among safe woods.
How to serve it: unsprayed; the STS says dried only
Good to know: Never use wood treated with chemicals or pesticides (Merck). Cherry, plum, cedar, thuja and yew are toxic – they have their own page.
