Can chinchillas eat willow?

Yes, chinchillas can eat and gnaw on dried willow. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) suggests willow and hazel branches for gnawing. It names fresh, unsprayed branches from broadleaf trees. Woodgreen and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) also name willow, though Woodgreen only weeping, goat or pussy willow. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) says all branches should be fed dried only, so we err on the side of caution.
