Can budgies eat chips?
Better not: budgies shouldn’t eat chips. The AAV’s budgie care sheet lists salt among things budgies must not get access to, and the AAV warns that salt poisoning can occur. The German Animal Welfare Federation lists salty food as unsuitable, and Purdue says salted foods should never be offered. RSPCA Australia also lists salt among foods and drinks that could be dangerous and should be kept away from your bird.
Good to know: If your budgie got hold of salty food or seems unwell, the AAV says to get help from an avian vet immediately, even if you only suspect it.
