Can rats eat grapes?
Better not: rats shouldn’t eat grapes. The RSPCA lists grapes and raisins among harmful foods to avoid. RSPCA Australia counts them as potentially harmful, and the RSPCA’s NextGen site also advises against grapes. Woodgreen, on the other hand, lists grapes as a healthy treat, and the Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) allows them occasionally in small amounts, so we err on the side of caution.
Good to know: Rats can’t vomit, so the RSPCA warns that even a small amount of something harmful can kill them. If you’re worried your rat has come into contact with anything harmful, the RSPCA says to contact your vet immediately.
