Can rats eat lettuce?
Yes, rats can eat lettuce in small amounts. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) lists lettuce as a suitable vegetable, along with endive. The Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) includes lettuce and chicory in its daily vegetables and calls organic lettuce well suited. Chicory also appears on the PDSA’s chart of safe fruit and veg for rats.
