Can rats eat oats?
Yes, but only a little: rats can eat oats. None of our rat sources names rolled oats specifically, only porridge (cooked oatmeal) and puffed oats. The University of Liverpool’s veterinary practice says a little porridge can be offered occasionally. The Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) calls puffed oats well suited and lists unsweetened cornflakes among foods for small amounts. Woodgreen considers whole-grain cereals with less than 5% sugar a good option, and the Merck Veterinary Manual mentions a daily piece of breakfast cereal as a treat.
How to serve it: unsweetened, as a small treat
