Can rats eat peanuts?
Yes, but only a little: rats can eat peanuts. The RSPCA says you can occasionally offer nuts such as peanuts. Woodgreen recommends only small amounts because of their fat content, and Blue Cross says peanuts should be a rare treat since they are high in fat.
How to serve it: as a rare treat (Blue Cross)
Good to know: The Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) says overweight rats should get no more than one nut a month, and if your rats are very possessive about food, skip nuts altogether so they don’t fight.
