Can chinchillas eat kale?
Better not: chinchillas shouldn’t eat kale. Merck advises against kale because it’s high in calcium. NC State lists it as moderate in calcium among its greens. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) says fresh greens shouldn’t be fed at all, so we err on the side of caution.
Good to know: What the TVT says chinchillas need instead – hay, dried herbs and a small amount of chinchilla pellets.
