Can cockatiels eat dandelions?
Yes, cockatiels can eat dandelions in small amounts. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) counts dandelion among the herbs that are part of a cockatiel’s staple diet. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) lists it as fresh greens, Purdue and RSPCA Australia include it with green vegetables for birds, and the Merck Veterinary Manual mentions dandelion greens.
How to serve it: washed, not from roadsides or freshly fertilized meadows
Good to know: None of our sources says anything specific about the flowers.
