Can cockatiels eat willow?
Yes, cockatiels can eat willow in small amounts. Fresh branches with leaves and buds also serve as food for cockatiels, says the Swiss animal welfare society (STS). Examples include hazel, maple, alder, willow or unsprayed fruit trees. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) says fresh branches of deciduous trees such as willow, fruit trees, beech or birch must always be available. The AAV says thin, freshly cut branches from nontoxic, pesticide-free trees can be offered.
How to serve it: fresh, unsprayed branches with leaves and buds
Good to know: The RSPCA suggests unsprayed willow, elder and pine branches for parrots to climb on.
