Can cockatiels eat grass?

Yes, fresh

Yes, cockatiels can eat fresh grass in small amounts. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) says cockatiels like grass seed heads. It lists them with the daily fresh food. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) also suggests grass for enrichment. It counts grass seeds among the seeds in the staple diet, like millet, so we rate dried grass seeds from the store “Only a little,” like other seeds.

How to serve it: fresh, ideally with seed heads, not from roadsides or freshly fertilized meadows

Good to know: The TVT mentions hay only as material for enrichment. We found no bird source on store-bought cat grass.
