Can cockatiels eat sprouts?
Yes, but only a little: cockatiels can eat sprouts. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) suggests freshly sprouted seeds for variety. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) lists sprouts as a protein food for cockatiels, usually once a week in small amounts, and Purdue counts alfalfa sprouts among legumes that are excellent protein sources.
How to serve it: very fresh, well rinsed, a small amount
Good to know: The STS warns that sprouts spoil quickly, so prepare them carefully and feed them only when very fresh.
