Can degus eat bread?

Better not: degus shouldn’t eat bread. The Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) lists bread, as well as grains, among foods degus should never have. PDSA says to avoid giving degus any human food scraps. The degu sources don’t name pasta or rice specifically – rice is a grain, and pasta is made from grain.
