Can hamsters eat apples?
Yes, but only a little: hamsters can eat apples. The RSPCA, PDSA and Woodgreen all list apple as a treat, cut small and with the seeds removed. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) says fruit should be offered rarely and only in small amounts.
How to serve it: seeds removed, a piece about the size of your hamster’s ear (Woodgreen)
Good to know: Woodgreen lists apple seeds among foods to avoid. For dwarf hamsters, Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) advises against fruit entirely, and Blue Cross mentions fruit as an occasional treat for Syrian hamsters only.
