Can hamsters eat avocado?

Better not: hamsters shouldn’t eat avocado. The German Animal Welfare Federation lists avocado as unsuitable food for hamsters.

Good to know: The Merck Veterinary Manual describes avocado poisoning in mice, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs but doesn’t mention hamsters. We found no hamster-specific source calling avocado toxic. If your hamster ate some and shows signs of poisoning or seems unwell, the RSPCA says to see your vet immediately.
