Can hamsters eat bananas?
Better not: hamsters shouldn’t eat bananas. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) says exotic fruit must not be fed but doesn’t name bananas. PDSA and Woodgreen, on the other hand, list bananas as suitable fruit, and PDSA even names them as a well-established alternative to citrus, so we err on the side of caution.
Good to know: For dwarf hamsters, Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT) advises against fruit entirely, and Blue Cross mentions fruit as an occasional treat for Syrian hamsters only.
