Can rats eat candy?
Better not: rats shouldn’t eat candy. The RSPCA says to avoid sugars and to use foods high in fat or sugar only as occasional treats or training rewards. RSPCA Australia advises against feeding sweets, and the University of Minnesota says rats should never be fed high-sugar human foods. The Royal Veterinary College warns against overfeeding sugary treats, and the Zurich animal welfare society (Zürcher Tierschutz) says food should contain neither sugar nor honey because it harms the teeth.
