Can budgies eat blueberries?
Yes, but only a little: budgies can eat blueberries. The RSPCA includes blueberries on its fruit list. The Merck Veterinary Manual says they are often offered and accepted by most birds, and recommends fresh rather than thawed berries. They also contain a fair amount of sugar.
How to serve it: fresh and washed, one or two berries
Good to know: The German Animal Welfare Federation says to offer fruit only in small amounts because of its sugar, and RSPCA Australia calls fruit a treat. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT), on the other hand, lists fruit as part of the daily diet, so we err on the side of caution.
