Can budgies eat elderberries?
Yes, but only a little: budgies can eat elderberries. The German Animal Welfare Federation lists elderberries among fruits suitable for variety, in small amounts only.
How to serve it: ripe, stems removed, just a few
Good to know: Our other budgie sources don’t mention elderberries. The German Animal Welfare Federation says to offer fruit only in small amounts because of its sugar, and RSPCA Australia calls fruit a treat. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT), on the other hand, lists fruit as part of the daily diet, so we err on the side of caution.
