Can budgies eat dried fruit?
Yes, but only a little: budgies can eat dried fruit. The AAV suggests threading fresh or dried fruit onto a treat kabob. For dried cranberries, the AAV recommends a natural, unsulfured and unsweetened product, and we suggest the same for any dried fruit.
How to serve it: unsulfured and unsweetened, a small piece
Good to know: We found no bird source on raisins. The German Animal Welfare Federation says to offer fruit only in small amounts because of its sugar, and RSPCA Australia calls fruit a treat. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT), on the other hand, lists fruit as part of the daily diet, so we err on the side of caution.
