Can budgies eat papaya?
Yes, but only a little: budgies can eat papaya. UC Davis includes papaya on its list of fruits for birds. The Merck Veterinary Manual names it among vitamin A–rich fruits and vegetables you can offer birds in smaller amounts.
How to serve it: peeled, seeds removed, a small piece
Good to know: The German Animal Welfare Federation says to offer fruit only in small amounts because of its sugar, and RSPCA Australia calls fruit a treat. Germany’s Veterinary Association for Animal Welfare (TVT), on the other hand, lists fruit as part of the daily diet, so we err on the side of caution.
