Can chinchillas eat chocolate?
Better not: chinchillas shouldn’t eat chocolate. The University of Minnesota says chinchillas shouldn’t be offered chocolate or other high-fat or high-sugar human treats. The Swiss animal welfare society (STS) says sweet food can cause life-threatening digestive problems.
Good to know: If you suspect your chinchilla is in pain, ill or injured, the RSPCA says to see a vet immediately. NC State adds that a chinchilla not eating for more than 12 hours is always an emergency.
