Can chinchillas eat dried fruit?
Better not: chinchillas shouldn’t eat dried fruit. Merck advises avoiding dried fruit because it can upset a chinchilla’s stomach. The RSPCA allows small amounts as treats, Purdue says dried fruit makes an excellent treat and names dried apples and cranberries, and the University of Minnesota says chinchillas can very occasionally have dried apple or prunes, so we err on the side of caution.
Good to know: Dried rose hips, on the other hand, are an occasional treat according to the TVT – they have their own page.
