Can chinchillas eat raisins?
Better not: chinchillas shouldn’t eat raisins. PDSA allows no more than two raisins a week. It says young chinchillas or those with sensitive stomachs shouldn’t have any, and Blue Cross says only very occasionally because they’re so sugary. Merck advises avoiding dried fruit, and the Swiss animal welfare society (STS) lists raisins (“Weinbeeren”) among sugary treats that shouldn’t be offered, so we err on the side of caution.
Good to know: Woodgreen says to avoid raisins or give only a few, and Purdue lists them among common treats.
